The Encompass programme has been running for over a year and is aimed at people aged from 18 years plus to access activities based around employability, health, well-being, learning and skills development. A new Saturday Kids Club is being launched at Linskill providing a place to meet and activities for children with special needs aged 8 years plus. The scheme has been grant funded by the Community Foundation for one year and will start in late September, running every Saturday morning from 10am-1pm.
Linskill Nursery in North Shields is expanding its curriculum activities with the introduction of an outdoor, nature based learning programme this September. Linskill Nursery will be the first day care nursery in the area to offer Forest School to its pre-school children.

Linskill is very excited to be partnering up with the Google Digital Garage Bus tour – providing opportunities for anyone to come and learn how to harness the power of the internet to grow their business, learn more about the internet, or develop new vocational skills. The Google Digital Garage Bus will next stop at Linskill on Thursday 13th June from 9am to 4pm.
Directors required for Charity Board – we are looking for motivated and committed volunteers to join our existing Board to strengthen the support to the senior management team, in realising our charitable objectives, strategic priorities and gaining financial means to deliver the work that we are passionate about.
This year’s Linskill Book Fair will incorporate a children’s writing competition for 7-11 year olds with certificates for all entries and prizes to be won. Organised by the Scribblers, a creative writing group at Linskill, children are requested to submit their seaside adventure stories for consideration – see below for how to enter.

Every year when our volunteers start checking and collating books for the Book Fair, they inevitably find a range of photographs that have been inserted into the pages of books, possibly used as bookmarks or put there for safe-keeping and then forgotten about. Our volunteer team are keen to return these photographs to their rightful owners as they appreciate many photographs reflect key moments in time and may hold fond memories for their owners or family members.

A big thank you to everyone who took the opportunity to vote for Linskill through the Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme and the Trust is delighted to confirm the Sensory Room has been awarded a community grant of £4,000. The grant will be used for the purchase of new interactive multi-sensory resources to enhance the room and child’s experience.
