This year will be the eighth annual Linskill Book Fair and this ever popular event will open its doors on Friday 18th May at 9am to let avid collectors and readers rummage through boxes and boxes of books. Over 30,000 books have now been generously donated by the community and local businesses with genres ranging from romance, history, crime, art, biographies, cookery, geography, gardening, travel, health, poetry, sociology, children’s books and many more popular and abstract topics.
The team of volunteers at Linskill have worked tirelessly to collate and classify books in time for the Book Fair and David, a long serving volunteer commented, ‘This year we have been kept busy with books arriving every day and I am sure we will have more books donated than previous years. There are old, new, fact and fiction books and hopefully there is a book that will appeal to everyone with all the books being sold over the three days.’
This three day event is always popular and it has been known for queues to form whilst people wait for the doors to open to grab a bargain, spot a collectable or simply enjoy some time perusing the racks of books available to build up their reading materials. All the books on sale are charged at £1 for a hardback and 50p for a softback and there will be a small section of records and DVDs for sale.
Simeon Ripley, Chief Executive of the Linskill Centre commented, ‘Following our recent call out to the community to support the Book Fair I am delighted to say we have been inundated with book donations, demonstrating the loyalty and support for the Linskill Centre. Every book sold at the event generates revenue for the Linskill Centre and its community activities and I have every confidence this year the Book Fair will exceed expectations.’
Admission to the Book Fair is free and opening times are Friday 18th May from 9am to 5pm, Saturday 19th May from 9am to 5pm and Sunday 20th May from 9am to 3pm.
