Despite the gale force winds and freezing temperatures there was a great turnout for the launch of a new community programme at the Battle Hill Multi-Use Centre.

The Open Day featured free taster sessions of art, crafts, heritage, cookery and information sharing throughout the day, demonstrating the range of activities that will be available for adults and the older community at the centre. It was also an opportunity for members of the local community to offer ideas and suggestions for future provision and find out how they might get involved.

The Trust had already secured funding to appoint two part-time project workers who will lead the delivery of the engAGE (55+) and Encompass (adult provision) programmes at Battle Hill and the Open Day was the culmination of months of networking and liaison with community groups and residents. With over 80 people attending throughout the day the Trust is now confident of rejuvenating the community centre at Battle Hill and provide a ‘go to’ destination for residents.

For more information on how to get involved or activities please email or pop in and take a look at the community notice board.
