The sun is shining, the holidays are approaching and the Linskill Summer Fete promises to be a fun-filled family day with games, bouncy castle, stalls, music and a range of activities and entertainment for all ages and interests. The theme this year is very much ‘community’ with home grown talent, groups and Linskill tenants getting involved to showcase their skills and abilities at the Linskill Centre on Saturday 21st July from 10am to 3pm, with free entry.

Running throughout the day there will be traditional garden and fete games for the whole family to enjoy, stalls to visit, bouncy castle and craft room, face painting, outdoor spaces to explore, taster sessions to try new skills or simply listen and enjoy music from aspiring local artists and buskers.

Linskill will hold its first ever family zumba session which is guaranteed to be loud, lively and fun for both parents and children. To keep everybody in party mode the ANSD Crew from Wallsend, will be performing an urban dance routine with the North Tyneside Bbboys, ANSD Cheer Squad and ANSD Freestyle Team. ANSD have won several awards for their routines and performances and will provide energy and enthusiasm to entertain the crowds.

Every Summer Fete needs some animals and delighted this year there will be donkeys and the children can learn all about these fabulous animals and give them a pat and cuddle. A local magician will take to the stage and conjure up a trick or two to keep the children entertained with mystery and illusion. A petting zoo featuring creepy crawlies of the eight-legged, furry and slippery kind will also allow children the opportunity to see spiders, frogs and snakes up close.

For those wanting to try something new there will be various taster sessions including: archery in the courtyard, Giggle N Groove with the toddlers and to add an international twist to the event some Spanish fun sessions involving singing and activities.

Simeon Ripley, Chief Executive commented, “The Linskill Centre is a thriving community resource providing a range of weekly activities and services for local people of all ages. It is important we have community events, such as the Summer Fete, where families and friends can get together and enjoy time with their children on their doorstep.”

The Linskill will bounce to the rhythms of a local steel band, with Holly’s School of Steel bringing the Summer Fete to a close.
