£21.9k Grant Awarded to Linskill Trust

Linskill and North Tyneside Community Development Trust (LNTCDT) has been awarded a grant of £21.9K by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the North East Combined Authority and Gateshead Council as the lead authorities.

The grant will fund 118 additional Solar PV panels to be installed at the Linskill Centre and will build on measures previously introduced to reduce the centre’s carbon footprint and improve its energy efficiency.  Previous projects include new energy efficient boilers, air source heat pumps, improved heating systems, and LED lighting.   It is anticipated that the new solar panels will save 8,664 kg of carbon emissions per year.

Simeon Ripley, CEO, of LNTCDT, said: “The Business Energy Efficiency Support grant will help us take the next step in our environmental strategy. As our energy costs are substantial, the additional solar PV panels will make a valuable contribution towards financial sustainability.”

The installation works is planned to be completed by December 2024.

BEST is an energy efficiency improvement project, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the North East Combined Authority as the lead authority. Delivered by local Councils, BEST aims to reduce energy use and costs in small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) in Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland and Gateshead.
