Linskill supporting Borough wide recycling campaign

We are very pleased to be part of North Tyneside Council’s campaign to reduce e-waste. A new small electrical bin is now in the reception of the Linskill Centre for all to use as a drop off point for your small electricals, batteries and vapes (no microwaves or large appliances please).
The Linskill Centre are 1 of over 30 new recycling points for small electrical items, batteries and vape tubes at locations across the borough, including council buildings, schools, and community centres.
Why recycle electricals and vapes?
- When electronics and vapes are dumped in landfill, toxic substances like lead and mercury can leak into soil and water
- Electronics and vapes contain valuable resources including gold, silver, copper, platinum, aluminium, and lithium – we are throwing away precious materials
- Obtaining materials from e-waste is more efficient and sustainable than mining them form the earth
- Using recycled materials helps reduce the greenhouse gas emissions produced when manufacturing new products
- When mixed in with general waste, vapes pose a fire hazard and the risk of harm to waste collection crews
